All about the different components of your pool

Published by Margaux Artigaud

The operation of a swimming pool is a world apart, with its technical specificities and standards that can quickly become difficult to understand for a novice. At the beginning of each season or when you want to build or install a swimming pool, the same questions come up: how does a swimming pool work? How to treat the water effectively? What is an electrical box for? What should you know about filtration?... And many more questions.

That's why, in this article, we will discover together the essential functions of your swimming pool and the important elements present in your technical room.

What does a swimming pool technical room contain?

No matter what type of pool you have installed, you will certainly have a technical room already fully equipped. But what are the elements found there?

The filtration unit

An essential element of the pool, the filtration pump sucks in water and circulates it through its filter. This is responsible for collecting dirt (pine needles, earth, etc.) present in your pool and also for carrying out a first stage of water treatment.

At Pool Planet, you will find different models of filtration pumps for your swimming pool: constant speed filtration pumps, variable speed filtration pumps... Our equipment allows you to improve water circulation and save energy over time. It's up to you to see the pump flow rate you need!

The second element of the filtration unit, the sand filter allows you to suck up larger elements that are foreign to the pool: leaves, etc. For clean water throughout the season!

The electrical box

The filtration pump must be protected against power surges, which is why you must connect it to a circuit breaker in an electrical box. Electrical boxes also allow you to manage the operating ranges of the filtration pump thanks to programmable timers.

In addition to managing and protecting filtration pumps, electrical boxes can be equipped with other electrical parts to be more complete. You can thus find boxes used to manage counter-current pumps, or supplied with 12V transformers to power your pool lighting.

Why do you need a 12V transformer for your pool?

For greater safety, equipment placed in or within 3.50m of the pool must be supplied with low voltage; maximum 12V AC or 24V DC. Thus, to power the projectors installed in the pool, you must use a box with a transformer. This converts the 230V current into 12V current.

Water treatment equipment

pH regulation

To manage your pool's water treatment, several solutions are available to you. You can choose to manage your treatment manually with chlorine tablets and solutions to manage the pH of the water.

At Pool Planet, we offer automatic solutions for managing water disinfection: complete water treatment systems composed of salt chlorinators, regulation devices to maintain the pH of the water between 7 and 7.6... All the intelligent equipment that guarantees optimal water quality.

Why maintain the pH between 7.0 and 7.6?

The pH of the water is the main element of water treatment. In any type of system, pH ensures the effectiveness of the disinfectant. For this, we offer regulation devices equipped with an integrated dosing pump. These automatically adjust the pH of the water according to a given set value.

The salt chlorinator

Salt electrolysis is an ecological, economical and natural way to treat your pool water. No need for algaecide or chlorine (except for restarting after wintering). With the help of a chlorinator, salt water is automatically transformed into chlorine.

This chlorinator consists of a control box, which allows the activation of the mechanism, and a cell where the electrolysis process takes place.

No use of chemicals, no chlorine, no inconvenience (stinging eyes...), savings because salt is renewed almost infinitely, autonomy and automation... Salt electrolysis has many advantages!

What about pool cleaning?

While water treatment and the filtration unit allow you to maintain bacteria-free and relatively clean water, it is still necessary to clean your pool. Thus, you will find in your technical room a robot cleaner or a manual vacuum cleaner to manually or automatically vacuum elements from the bottom of the pool.

We have reviewed the main elements that are present in your technical room. This equipment allows you to manage the cleaning of your pool and ensure pure and perfect water.
