CCEI TIMEO Connected Electrical Box: Bluetooth Control of Filtration and Lighting from your Smartphone
The CCEI TIMEO connected electrical box is a multifunctional control unit that centralizes the control of the filtration pump, 12V lighting, and an auxiliary equipment, all controllable from a smartphone application via Bluetooth connection. It integrates a 12V 100VA transformer to power LED projectors, an adjustable 4-6.3A thermal-magnetic circuit breaker to protect the filtration pump, and a dry contact auxiliary output controllable from the app to command additional equipment (heat pump, robot, electrolyzer). The box is pre-wired at the factory, which considerably simplifies installation: simply connect the 230V AC mains input, the filtration pump, the projectors, and any auxiliary equipment to the dedicated terminals.
The TIMEO application (iOS and Android) allows you to program 2 daily filtration time slots, control the lighting with 3 different modes (monochrome, toggle switch by micro-cuts, CCEI light sequences), manually activate the auxiliary output, and force the filtration to run or stop. The box also has physical inputs (forced run, pump lockout, 3-position switches) for manual control independent of the app. Dimensions: 40 × 22.5 × 12 cm.
Important limitation: The TIMEO only works with Bluetooth, which means you must be near the box (typical range of 5 to 15 meters depending on obstacles) to control it. It does not have Wi-Fi connectivity or remote access via the Internet. If you want to control your pool from outside your home or program advanced scenarios, opt for the CCEI TILD VP box, which offers Wi-Fi connectivity and remote access.
Bluetooth Connection Only: Local Control Without Wi-Fi or Remote Access
The TIMEO exclusively uses a Bluetooth 4.0 or higher connection to communicate with your smartphone. This means you must be within Bluetooth range of the box (generally 5 to 15 meters in open space, reduced to 3 to 8 meters with concrete, cinder block, or brick walls) to access the app's functions and modify settings. Once programmed, the box automatically executes the defined time slots, even if your smartphone is no longer in range.
This Bluetooth limitation presents advantages and disadvantages depending on your usage:
Bluetooth Advantages: Simple installation (no need to connect the box to your internet box or configure a Wi-Fi network), enhanced security (no internet connection, so no risk of remote hacking), no dependence on the quality of your home Wi-Fi network, no cloud subscription or mandatory online account. Bluetooth works completely autonomously and locally.
Bluetooth Disadvantages: Inability to control the pool from outside the house (e.g., from work, on vacation, or from the terrace if the technical room is too far away), no push notifications in case of anomaly, no integration with voice assistants (Alexa, Google Home) or home automation systems (Home Assistant, Jeedom). The TIMEO is a proximity box, ideal if your technical room is easily accessible from the swimming area or from the house.
In practice, the Bluetooth range is sufficient for most residential installations where the technical room is located less than 10 meters from the terrace or house. If your technical room is at the end of the garden, 20 or 30 meters from the house, Bluetooth may not have sufficient range, and you will have to physically go to the box to modify the settings via the app.
TIMEO App: Intuitive Interface for Programming Filtration and Lighting
The TIMEO application (available for free on iOS App Store and Android Google Play) serves as the control and programming interface for the box. It connects to the box via Bluetooth in a few seconds (automatic pairing during first use), and displays a dashboard with the main functions:
Filtration Programming: You define 2 daily time slots during which the filtration pump should run. For example, 8 AM-12 PM then 4 PM-8 PM for a total of 8 hours of daily filtration. Each slot is independently configurable (start time, end time) and repeats automatically every day. This dual-slot programming optimizes electricity consumption by filtering during off-peak hours if you have a peak/off-peak hour subscription.
Lighting Control: The app offers 3 operating modes for 12V LED projectors connected to the TIMEO's integrated transformer—these modes are detailed in the next section.
Auxiliary Output Control: An ON/OFF button in the app allows you to manually activate or deactivate the dry contact auxiliary output, which can control additional equipment (heat pump, electrolyzer, pool robot, etc.). This output is not hourly programmable in the basic TIMEO app, but only manually activatable/deactivatable.
Forced Run and Stop Modes: Buttons allow you to force 24/7 filtration (shock treatment, green water) or completely stop filtration (winterization, maintenance). These modes temporarily override the hourly programming until you deactivate them.
The application also displays the real-time status of the equipment (pump running or stopped, lighting on or off, auxiliary output active or inactive), allowing you to remotely check (within Bluetooth range) that everything is working correctly.
Three Lighting Control Modes: Monochrome, Toggle Switch, Light Sequences
The TIMEO integrates a 12V 100VA transformer that powers the pool's 12V LED projectors. The application offers 3 lighting control modes adapted to different types of projectors:
Mode 1 — Monochrome (fixed ON/OFF lighting): This mode works with all classic 12V LED projectors (white, RGB monochrome, third-party brand projectors). The app simply sends an ON (turn on) or OFF (turn off) command to the transformer. You turn the lighting on or off with a simple tap in the application. No color change or lighting effect, just a basic on/off command.
Mode 2 — Toggle switch (color change by micro-cuts): This mode uses the technique of power micro-cuts to change the color of RGB projectors that integrate this function (most RGB projectors on the market support this protocol). The principle: when you turn the projector off then quickly on again (cut-off of less than 1 second), the projector automatically switches to the next color in its internal sequence (for example: white → blue → green → red → purple → cyan → yellow → back to white). The TIMEO app sends these micro-cuts on demand, allowing you to cycle through the available colors until you find the desired one. Compatible with most RGB projectors on the market (Hayward, Pentair, Zodiac, Astralpool, etc.).
Mode 3 — Light sequences (CCEI protocol only): This advanced mode is exclusively compatible with CCEI Mini-Brio RGB, RGBW projectors, and similar ranges. It allows precise control of the color and intensity of CCEI projectors via a proprietary 12V wire communication protocol. You directly select the desired color from an app palette (16 million colors for RGBW), adjust the light intensity (dimming from 0 to 100%), and activate dynamic effects (crossfade, rainbow, flashing, etc.). This mode offers total control over the pool's ambient lighting but absolutely requires compatible CCEI projectors. With projectors from other brands, this mode will not work or will cause erratic behavior.
In summary: if you have CCEI projectors, use mode 3 for advanced control. If you have RGB projectors from other brands, use mode 2 (toggle switch). If you have classic white LED projectors, use mode 1 (ON/OFF).
Two Filtration Programming Slots: Optimizing Electricity Consumption
The TIMEO allows you to program 2 daily filtration time slots, which offers great flexibility to optimize electricity consumption and adapt filtration time to seasonal needs. The two slots are independent and repeat automatically every day until you modify them.
Here are some examples of practical use of the 2 programming slots:
Example 1 — Taking advantage of off-peak hours: If you have a peak/off-peak hour subscription with off-peak hours from 10 PM to 6 AM (8 hours) then from 12 PM to 2 PM (2 hours), you can program slot 1 from 10:30 PM to 5:30 AM (7 hours) and slot 2 from 12 PM to 2 PM (2 hours), for a total of 9 hours of daily filtration, mainly during off-peak hours, which reduces the electricity bill by 30 to 40% compared to filtration during peak hours.
Example 2 — Fractional filtration in summer: In high season (July-August), it is often recommended to fractionate filtration into several periods to better distribute water circulation. You can program slot 1 from 8 AM to 1 PM (5 hours) and slot 2 from 5 PM to 9 PM (4 hours), for a total of 9 hours distributed throughout the day. This distribution ensures better homogeneity of water quality and avoids temperature peaks in the middle of the day.
Example 3 — Reduced filtration off-season: In April-May or September-October, when the pool is little used and the water temperature is still cool (< 20 °C), 4 to 6 hours of filtration per day is sufficient. You can program a single slot from 10 AM to 4 PM (6 hours) and leave slot 2 deactivated (or configured with the same times as slot 1).
The 2-slot programming offers greater flexibility than classic mechanical timer boxes or day/night contactors, which usually impose a single fixed 8-hour slot. With the TIMEO, you can precisely adapt the duration and distribution of filtration according to the season, pool usage, and your electricity tariff.
Integrated 12V 100VA Transformer: Direct Power Supply for LED Projectors
The TIMEO box integrates a 230V/12V 100VA toroidal transformer (equivalent to approximately 8 amps at 12V), which allows direct power supply to your pool's 12V LED projectors without requiring an external transformer. This integration simplifies installation and reduces costs, as you do not need to purchase and install a separate projector power supply box (such as CCEI's Piccolo PIMT).
The 100VA power is sufficient to supply:
— 5 to 8 CCEI Mini-Brio LED projectors (typical consumption of 10 to 15 watts per projector, or 50 to 120 watts total)
— 2 PAR56 LED projectors of 40-50 watts (total consumption of 80 to 100 watts)
— Any 12V AC equipment whose cumulative consumption does not exceed 100 watts
If you have more powerful projectors or more projectors (for example, 4 × PAR56 of 50 watts = 200 watts), the integrated transformer's power will be insufficient, and you will need to install an additional external transformer. In this case, the TIMEO transformer can power some of the projectors, and the external transformer will power the others.
The TIMEO's 12V transformer is compatible with 12V AC (alternating current) LED projectors, which are the standard for residential pools. It is not compatible with 12V DC (direct current) projectors, which require a specific stabilized power supply.
Auxiliary Dry Contact Output: Controlling Additional Equipment
The TIMEO features an auxiliary dry contact output (normally open relay, 16A breaking capacity) which allows for controlling additional electrical equipment from the smartphone application. This output acts like an electronic switch: when you activate the output in the app, the relay closes, allowing current to flow to the connected equipment. When you deactivate the output, the relay opens and cuts off the current.
Examples of equipment that can be controlled via the auxiliary output:
Heat pump or electric heater: You can turn the pool heating on or off from the TIMEO app, without having to go to the technical room. Please note: the TIMEO's auxiliary output is not hourly programmable in the basic app; it only functions in manual ON/OFF mode. If you wish to program heating time slots, you will either need to use the heat pump's integrated programmer (if it has one) or opt for a more advanced control box like the TILD VP.
Electrolyzer or pH regulator: You can manually cut off or activate the automatic treatment system from the app, for example, to force a stop during a manual shock treatment, or to restart the system after maintenance.
Pressure pool cleaner or booster pump: If you have a hydraulic pressure cleaner (Polaris, 3900S, etc.), you can activate the booster pump from the app to start a cleaning cycle, then deactivate it once cleaning is complete.
Peristaltic dosing pump or any 230V equipment: The auxiliary output supports up to 16 amps at 230V AC, which is approximately 3,600 watts, covering most residential equipment.
The auxiliary output is particularly useful for equipment you want to control occasionally without having to program fixed schedules, or to add a remote control function (within Bluetooth range) to equipment that does not have it natively.
Factory Pre-wired Box: Simplified Installation with Dedicated Terminal Blocks
The TIMEO is delivered factory pre-wired, meaning all internal components (12V transformer, thermal-magnetic circuit breaker, relays, Bluetooth module, electronic board) are already wired and interconnected. You do not need to open the box or make complex internal connections: all user wiring is done via screw terminals accessible on the front or side of the box.
The terminal blocks are clearly identified and grouped by function:
"230V AC Mains Supply" Terminal Block: Connect the 3 wires from the electrical supply from the main electrical panel of the house (phase, neutral, earth) here. The circuit must be protected upstream by a 16 or 20 amp circuit breaker and a 30mA residual current device.
"Filtration Pump" Terminal Block: Connect the wires of the filtration pump (phase, neutral, earth). The thermal-magnetic circuit breaker integrated into the TIMEO protects the pump against overloads and short circuits. Set the circuit breaker threshold according to the nominal current of your pump (indicated on the nameplate): the TIMEO's circuit breaker is adjustable from 4 to 6.3 amps, which is suitable for residential filtration pumps from 0.5 to 1.5 HP (370 to 1100 watts).
"12V Projectors" Terminal Block: Connect the cable of the LED projectors to the integrated 12V transformer. Observe polarity (although for 12V AC, polarity generally does not matter for LEDs, some CCEI projectors require correct polarity for light sequence control).
"Auxiliary Output" Terminal Block: Connect the wires of the auxiliary equipment you want to control (heat pump, electrolyzer, robot, etc.). The TIMEO relay opens or closes the electrical circuit of this equipment according to the app command.
"Control Inputs" Terminal Blocks: The TIMEO also has physical inputs (forced run, pump lockout, 3-position switches) that allow the box to be controlled without the Bluetooth app. These inputs are optional and can remain unwired if you do not wish to use them.
Installation of the TIMEO typically takes 1 to 2 hours for a competent electrician, or 2 to 4 hours for an informed DIYer who meticulously follows the instructions. If you are not comfortable with electrical work, call a qualified professional to ensure an installation compliant with NF C 15-100 standards.
Physical Inputs: Forced Run, Pump Lockout, Switches: Independent Manual Control
In addition to control via the Bluetooth application, the TIMEO has physical control inputs that allow the box to be controlled without a smartphone, for example, in case of Bluetooth failure, a dead phone battery, or if you prefer traditional manual control:
"Forced Run" Input: Connect a switch or push-button to this input to force 24/7 filtration. When this input is activated, the TIMEO ignores the hourly programming and continuously powers the filtration pump, which is useful for shock treatments or periods of high use.
"Pump Lockout" Input: Connect a low-level float, a filter pressure switch, or an external safety system to this input to automatically shut off the pump in case of an anomaly (water level too low, excessive filter pressure, etc.). When this input is activated, the TIMEO immediately shuts off the filtration pump to protect it.
3-Position Switches: Connect 3-position rotary selectors (day/night contactor type) to switch between forced run, automatic (hourly programming), and total stop, without using the app.
These inputs allow the TIMEO to be integrated into complex pool installations where several pieces of equipment must interact (level regulator, safety system, external programmers, etc.), while retaining the flexibility of Bluetooth control for daily convenience.
TIMEO vs. TILD VP Difference: Local Bluetooth vs. Wi-Fi with Remote Access
CCEI offers two connected electrical boxes for swimming pools: the TIMEO (this product) and the TILD VP. Both have similar functions (filtration control, lighting, time programming), but differ in their connection method and advanced features:
TIMEO (Bluetooth only): Local connection via Bluetooth, range limited to 5-15 meters, no remote access via Internet, simple programming with 2 filtration time slots, integrated 12V 100VA transformer, more affordable price. Ideal for users who want local control without relying on home Wi-Fi or an Internet connection, and who do not need remote control from outside.
TILD VP (Wi-Fi + remote access): Connects to your Internet box via Wi-Fi, remote access from anywhere in the world via the mobile app (4G, Internet), advanced programming with multiple time scenarios and conditions (temperature, weather, etc.), push notifications in case of anomaly, possible integration with voice assistants and home automation, higher price. Ideal for users who want to control their pool from work, on vacation, or who want advanced automation with intelligent scenarios.
Choose the TIMEO if your technical room is close to the living area (terrace, house) and you are satisfied with local control via Bluetooth. Choose the TILD VP if you want to control your pool from outside, receive alerts in case of problems, or create advanced automations.
Compact dimensions and IP55 sealing: wall mounting in the technical room
The TIMEO box measures 40 × 22.5 × 12 cm (width × height × depth), making it a compact box suitable for small technical rooms. It is wall-mounted via integrated mounting brackets and screws/anchors suitable for the support (breeze block, brick, concrete). Its ABS plastic casing offers IP55 protection (protection against water splashes and dust), making it suitable for humid pool room environments, even if condensation or occasional splashes are present.
The recommended wall installation is at a height of 1.20 m to 1.60 m from the floor, for easy access to the terminals and control buttons, while avoiding flooding in case of a water leak in the technical room. Be sure to leave a space of 10 cm around the box for ventilation of the 12V transformer, which heats up slightly during normal operation.
