CCEI ORP (Redox) Probe + Connection Cable – Replacement for Oxeo and Limpido

Is your CCEI regulator's ORP probe drifting, showing inconsistent values, or no longer responding? This ORP probe with a 3.5 m connection cable is the original CCEI replacement part, designed for devices in the Oxeo and Limpido ranges. It ensures accurate and stable measurement of your pool water's oxidation-reduction potential, an essential condition for an automatic disinfection system to function correctly.

Available in two versions depending on your device: the standard ORP MPTE0212+ probe and the ORP Gold MPTE0226 version, featuring a gold electrode for increased durability and accuracy over time. Check your regulator's reference before ordering to choose the appropriate version.

ORP and Redox: what are we talking about?

ORP — for Oxidation Reduction Potential — is synonymous with Redox. Both terms refer to exactly the same physical quantity: the oxidation-reduction potential of water, expressed in millivolts (mV). This is the value that the probe continuously measures and that your regulator uses to automatically control the injection of disinfectant — chlorine, bromine, or salt electrolysis — proportionally to the water's actual needs.

A Redox level correctly maintained between 650 and 750 mV ensures effectively disinfected water, without over- or under-dosing. Below this threshold, bacteria and microorganisms can proliferate in the water despite the presence of chlorine. Above it, the risk is water overloaded with disinfectant, irritating to swimmers' eyes and skin. The ORP probe is therefore the central measuring element of any automatic disinfection regulation.

Compatibility with CCEI Regulators

This ORP probe is the original part for the following CCEI devices:

  • Oxeo, Oxeo LT, Oxeo SP
  • Limpido XC LAB, Limpido Pro Lab
  • Any CCEI device equipped with an ORP probe slot in Ø 12 mm format

The standard Ø 12 mm × 12.5 cm format integrates directly into your regulator's probe holder, without modification or adapter. The 3.5 meter cable — longer than that of the pH probe — offers great installation flexibility, especially when the technical room is far from the injection point in the pipe.

When to replace your CCEI ORP probe?

An ORP probe has an average lifespan of 12 to 24 months depending on usage conditions and the water's chlorine concentration. Several signs should alert you to an imminent or actual failure.

If your regulator displays an abnormally low Redox value despite a correct chlorine level measured by test strip or colorimetric tester, this is the first sign of a drifting probe. Similarly, a value that fluctuates significantly from one measurement to another without apparent reason indicates an electrode nearing the end of its life. Finally, if the probe's calibration requires a correction greater than 50 mV compared to the reference value, replacement becomes necessary to regain reliable regulation.

In all these cases, replacing the ORP probe is the first action to take before considering any other intervention on the regulator. It is a simple, quick operation and significantly less costly than a diagnosis or a complete device replacement.

Quick installation, no specific tools required

Replacing the ORP probe does not require any particular technical skills. Simply switch off the regulator's power, unscrew the old probe from its holder, screw in the new one ensuring watertightness, then reconnect the cable to the corresponding connector on the regulator. Commissioning is immediate: the probe does not require calibration like a pH probe — it directly produces a voltage in millivolts that the regulator interprets without prior calibration.

The supplied 3.5 m cable allows for comfortable management of the distance between the probe holder installed on the return pipe and the regulator's input in the technical room, even in the most distant configurations.

Standard ORP probe or Gold ORP probe: which to choose?

The ORP MPTE0212+ version is the standard probe, suitable for common use in pools treated with liquid or granular chlorine. It is the usual replacement part for the vast majority of CCEI Oxeo and Limpido installations.

The ORP Gold MPTE0226 version is equipped with a gold electrode, a material known for its better resistance to oxidation and chemical corrosion. It is recommended for pools with high chlorine levels, intensive use installations, or owners wishing to extend the lifespan of their probe between replacements. Its cost is slightly higher but its life expectancy is significantly extended under demanding usage conditions.

Frequently asked questions about the CCEI ORP (Redox) probe

What is an ORP probe and what is its purpose in a pool? +

An ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) probe, also called a Redox probe, measures the oxidation-reduction potential of water in millivolts (mV). This value directly reflects the actual disinfecting power of your water, regardless of the raw chlorine level. A Redox value around 650 mV guarantees effective disinfection. The ORP probe allows your regulator to automatically control the injection of disinfectant to maintain healthy water at all times.

What is the difference between an ORP probe and a pH probe? +

The pH probe measures the acidity or alkalinity of the water (scale of 0 to 14), while the ORP/Redox probe measures the actual effectiveness of the disinfectant in millivolts. These two measurements are complementary: poorly balanced pH can reduce the effectiveness of chlorine even if the ORP probe displays a correct value. This is why the most advanced CCEI regulators, such as Oxeo or Limpido Pro Lab, use both probes simultaneously for precise and automated treatment.

Which CCEI devices is this ORP probe compatible with? +

This ORP probe is a genuine CCEI part compatible with devices from the Oxeo (Oxeo, Oxeo LT, Oxeo SP) and Limpido (Limpido XC LAB, Limpido Pro Lab) ranges. It is available in two versions: standard ORP (MPTE0212+) and ORP Gold (MPTE0226) — check your device's reference to choose the correct model. Its 3.5-meter cable and Ø12 mm format ensure direct connection without modification.

How do I know if my ORP probe is faulty? +

Several signs indicate a faulty ORP probe: the displayed Redox value is frozen or inconsistent with the actual water quality, the regulator continuously triggers disinfectant injection without water improvement, or the displayed value is abnormally low (below 400 mV) even though the water is well chlorinated. To confirm, compare the displayed value with an independent Redox tester. If the difference exceeds 100 mV and cleaning does not correct the problem, the probe must be replaced.

What is the lifespan of a pool ORP probe? +

The lifespan of an ORP probe is generally 2 to 4 years depending on usage conditions. It degrades faster in case of very chlorinated water, prolonged exposure to concentrated chemicals, or improper off-season storage. The ORP Gold probe (MPTE0226) offers an extended lifespan thanks to its high-quality platinum electrode. Regular cleaning of the membrane and careful winterization maximize its longevity.

What is the difference between the standard ORP probe and the ORP Gold probe? +

The standard ORP probe (MPTE0212+) uses a classic platinum electrode offering excellent performance for general use. The ORP Gold probe (MPTE0226) is equipped with a gold electrode that offers superior chemical resistance, increased stability over time, and better accuracy in aggressive environments (highly chlorinated water, bromine treatment). The Gold version is recommended for heavily used pools or professional installations.

How to maintain and clean an ORP probe? +

Maintaining an ORP probe is simple but essential. Gently clean the metal membrane with a soft cloth soaked in a diluted white vinegar solution if calcium deposits are present. Then rinse with clear water. Unlike the pH probe, the ORP probe does not require calibration — its reference value is absolute in millivolts. Regularly check the condition of the cable and its connection to avoid poor contact.

How do I winterize my ORP probe at the end of the season? +

To properly winterize your ORP probe, remove it from its probe holder and rinse it thoroughly with clear water. Unlike the pH probe, the ORP probe can be stored dry or in its protective cap. However, avoid exposing it to direct frost, which could fracture the membrane. Store it in a temperate, dry place, away from chemicals. Before restarting in the spring, clean the membrane and check the integrity of the cable.

Where should the ORP probe be positioned in the hydraulic circuit? +

The ORP probe must be installed after the filter and after the disinfectant injection point, in the return pipe to the pool. This position ensures that the probe measures the water after treatment and reflects the actual quality of the pool water. The probe holder must ensure permanent immersion of the membrane even at low filtration flow rates, to avoid false readings in the open air. The included 3.5-meter cable offers great flexibility of placement.

What Redox value should be targeted for a healthy and safe pool? +

The Redox value targeted by CCEI regulators is 650 mV, which guarantees effective disinfecting power and optimal comfort for swimmers. Below 550 mV, the disinfecting power becomes insufficient and bacteria can develop in the pool. Above 800 mV, the water can become too oxidizing and cause skin and eye irritation, as well as accelerated degradation of equipment. The regulator automatically adjusts the disinfectant injection to maintain this target value.
