According to the definition of NF PAC and FPP DTP 10, a pool heat pump can raise and maintain the temperature of your pool water from early May to late September, if your pool has thermal protection.

Under these conditions, it is not necessary to use a winter kit.

However, if you wish to extend this period, it is advisable, depending on your temperature objectives and swimming period, to have the appropriate thermal protection (heated and dehumidified enclosure, an indoor pool, etc.) and the heating system corresponding to your needs. Therefore, a precise, personalized thermal assessment should be carried out by a professional.

We strongly recommend the winter kit for your heat pump.

The purpose of the winter kit is to facilitate defrosting of the heat pump.
Indeed, when outside temperatures are close to 0°C, heat pumps go through many defrost cycles. Given the ambient humidity, these cycles are not enough to fully defrost the heat pump, which gradually freezes up.

The consequences are that condensates no longer drain, ice blocks the fan propeller, and the compressor strains.

Not only will the heat pump no longer provide full satisfaction, but you will also increase the risk of breakdowns that will not be covered by warranty.

To preserve your heat pump, it is therefore mandatory to install a winter kit.

This kit mainly consists of a heating cable and a crankcase heater that surrounds the compressor and runs along the evaporator, allowing for better fluid exchange and preventing the formation of frost or ice in the heat pump, and primarily promoting the drainage of condensation water created by the various exchanges at low temperatures.

This is no reason not to properly maintain your heat pump.

Furthermore, despite the modifications made to the machine, the customer must ensure that there is no accumulation of impurities or ice in the bottom of the chassis, which could reduce the machine's efficiency and, in an extreme case, cause irreversible damage to your heat pump.

If ice accumulates, it is up to the user to remove this ice accumulation by pouring hot water on the evaporator coil.
It is imperative to check that water circulates continuously when temperatures are negative. After a few hours, stagnant water can freeze and break the water circuit of your installation or your heat pump. The breakage will then not be covered by warranty.
