1" 24V CCEI Solenoid Valve MPNG0142: the key component for your automatic pool filling

The 1-inch 24V CCEI solenoid valve, reference MPNG0142, is a professional-grade electrically operated valve designed to automatically control your pool's water filling. Powered by a 24V AC Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV), it eliminates any risk of electric shock near the water, a safety imperative in the pool environment.

Its operation is simple: connected to a CCEI water level regulator, the solenoid valve opens automatically when the pool level drops below the set threshold, then closes once the optimal level is restored. Filling is thus fully automated, without human intervention, compensating for natural evaporation, splashing, and water loss due to backwashing.

Compatibility with CCEI level regulators

The MPNG0142 solenoid valve is the standard replacement part and accessory supplied with the main level regulators in the CCEI range. It is compatible with the RNS-1 (float detection, skimmer pools), the RNS-2 (electronic probe detection), the NIVA 3 (three probes, skimmer and overflow pools) and the NIVA 5 (five probes, overflow pools). It is also compatible with the level regulation option of CCEI's Meteor and TILD VP multifunction control boxes.

If your original solenoid valve shows signs of fatigue—leaks at the solenoid, valve that no longer opens or remains stuck open, abnormal vibration noise—replacement with the MPNG0142 guarantees perfect compatibility with your existing installation.

Technical specifications of the MPNG0142 solenoid valve

The solenoid valve has a 1" (25 mm) female BSP threaded hydraulic connection at both inlet and outlet, compatible with PVC pressure pipes and standard domestic water supply fittings. Its operating pressure range extends from 1 to 10 bar, largely covering the usual water network pressures in France (2 to 5 bar on average).

In its normal position (de-energized), the solenoid valve is normally closed (NC): it allows no water to pass until the level regulator supplies it with 24V. This feature ensures the safety of the installation in the event of a power outage, preventing any risk of uncontrolled filling.

The 24V AC solenoid is encapsulated with a captive plunger, facilitating maintenance. An internal and external manual bleed allows manual activation of the valve to test the system or perform a one-off filling without going through the control box.

Installation and connection

The solenoid valve is installed in the plant room, on the pool filling water supply line. The recommended installation follows this order, from the network inlet: a shut-off valve (to isolate the filling circuit), a strainer filter (to protect the solenoid valve from network impurities—sand, limescale, rust), then the MPNG0142 solenoid valve itself, and finally the filling pipe to the pool or skimmer.

The solenoid valve must be installed in a horizontal position (valve body horizontal, coil upwards) for optimal operation. The tightness of the 1" threaded connections is ensured by Teflon or hemp. The electrical wiring is connected to the terminal block of the CCEI level regulator control box.

Maintenance and precautions

The solenoid valve requires minimal maintenance. It is recommended to clean the strainer filter installed upstream every 6 to 12 months to prevent clogging that would reduce the filling flow. In case of passive winterization (complete shutdown of filtration), the solenoid valve must be drained or dismantled if the plant room is not protected from frost, to prevent residual water from freezing and cracking the valve body.

If you find that the solenoid valve no longer opens despite a command from the regulator, first check the 24V power supply at the terminal block, then test manual opening via the bleed screw. If the valve works with manual bleed but not with electrical command, the solenoid is probably defective. If it no longer opens at all, the valve body may be scaled or blocked by impurities—cleaning or replacement is necessary.

Why 24V and not 230V?

In a pool environment, Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) 24V is the recommended standard for any component likely to be in contact with water or installed near the pool. At this voltage, the risk of electric shock is eliminated even in case of accidental contact with water. In addition, the low 24V voltage eliminates the risk of parasitic electrolysis in metal pipes, a phenomenon that can accelerate equipment corrosion. All CCEI level regulators incorporate a 230V/24V transformer that directly powers the solenoid valve.

Frequently Asked Questions – CCEI MPNG0142 1" 24V Solenoid Valve

What is the purpose of the MPNG0142 solenoid valve in a swimming pool installation? +

The 1" 24V solenoid valve ref. MPNG0142 physically controls the water supply for pool filling. Controlled by a CCEI level regulator, it automatically opens when the water level drops below the set threshold and closes once the level is restored. This allows for fully automated filling, compensating for evaporation, splashes, and water loss.

Is this solenoid valve compatible with all CCEI level regulators? +

Yes. The MPNG0142 solenoid valve is the standard model supplied with CCEI level regulators: RNS-1 (float), RNS-2 (electronic probe), NIVA 3 (skimmer pools) and NIVA 5 (overflow pools). It is also compatible with the level regulation option of Meteor and TILD VP multifunction control boxes.

Can this solenoid valve be used with a level regulator from another brand? +

Yes, provided the regulator supplies a 24V AC control output and the hydraulic connection is compatible with 1" (25 mm) female BSP thread. The solenoid valve is normally closed (NC) and opens when it receives the 24V signal — this is the standard operation of most pool level regulators.

Why does the solenoid valve operate on 24V and not 230V? +

24V extra-low voltage (SELV) is the recommended standard in a swimming pool environment. At this voltage, the risk of electric shock is eliminated even in case of accidental contact with water. In addition, low voltage eliminates the risk of parasitic electrolysis in metal pipes. The 230V/24V transformer is integrated into the CCEI level regulator control box.

What water pressure is required for the solenoid valve to function correctly? +

The MPNG0142 solenoid valve operates with a water pressure between 1 and 10 bar. A minimum pressure of 1 bar is required to allow the valve to open. In France, domestic network pressure is generally between 2 and 5 bar, which is perfectly compatible. If your pressure exceeds 4 bar, install a pressure reducer upstream to protect the strainer filter.

Should a strainer filter be installed before the solenoid valve? +

Yes, it is highly recommended. A strainer filter installed between the shut-off valve and the solenoid valve retains impurities from the water network (sand, limescale, rust) that could block the valve's clapper. The strainer filter is not included with the solenoid valve sold alone — it is only supplied with complete level regulator kits (RNS-1, RNS-2, NIVA 3, NIVA 5). Clean it every 6 to 12 months.

How to install the solenoid valve in the technical room? +

The solenoid valve must be installed horizontally, with the coil facing upwards. The mounting order on the filling line is as follows: shut-off valve, then strainer filter, then MPNG0142 solenoid valve, then pipe to the pool. The watertightness of the 1" threaded connections is ensured with Teflon or hemp. The 24V wiring is connected to the terminal block of the CCEI level regulator control box.

What should I do if the solenoid valve no longer opens? +

First, check the 24V power supply at the terminal block of the regulator control box. Then, test manual opening via the valve's bleed screw. If the valve opens manually but not with electrical command, the solenoid is likely defective. If it does not open at all, the valve body may be scaled or blocked by impurities — a cleaning with white vinegar or a replacement of the solenoid valve is necessary.

Should the solenoid valve be protected during winter? +

Yes, if your technical room is not protected from frost. In case of passive wintering, residual water in the solenoid valve can freeze and crack the valve body. It is recommended to purge the solenoid valve or dismantle it before winter. If your pool is in active wintering with a DHG-2 frost protection box, the filling circuit can still be purged as it is not affected by the filtration circulation.

Is the MPNG0142 solenoid valve covered by a warranty? +

The solenoid valve benefits from the 2-year legal guarantee of conformity applicable to all purchases on Pool Planet. In case of a defect found within this period, contact customer service for an exchange or refund.
