CCEI Cleaning Plug: The essential accessory for maintaining your pool electrolyzer cell
The CCEI cleaning plug (ref. PF10I190) is a simple but essential accessory for any pool owner equipped with a CCEI salt chlorinator. It allows you to descale your electrolysis cell in a vertical position, without complex disassembly and without losing any cleaning product. Supplied with its sealing gasket, it ensures clean and leak-free cleaning.
What is the cell cleaning plug used for?
Over the months, limescale builds up on the titanium plates of your electrolyzer cell. This scale gradually reduces the efficiency of chlorine production and can eventually damage the electrodes. The CCEI cleaning plug allows you to soak the plates in a descaling solution directly inside the cell: you screw the plug onto one end, hold the cell vertically, and pour the cleaning product until the plates are completely covered. No need for an external basin or container.
Compatible with all CCEI cells with 50 mm connection
The PF10I190 plug is compatible with all CCEI electrolyzer cells equipped with a 50 mm diameter connection. This includes the Limpido, Limpido Z, Zélia (references ZLC, ZLT and ZLA) ranges, as well as X-Cell cells. Before ordering, simply check that your cell has a 50 mm connection — this is the case for the vast majority of CCEI cells in circulation.
How to clean your electrolyzer cell with the CCEI plug?
Cleaning your cell is a simple operation that requires no special tools. First, disassemble the cell from your hydraulic circuit by unscrewing the union fittings. Then, screw the cleaning plug onto one of the ends, making sure to position the supplied sealing gasket correctly. Place the cell vertically, plug facing down, then fill it with a 10% diluted hydrochloric acid solution or household white vinegar. Leave to act until the limescale deposits completely disappear (from a few minutes to several hours depending on the level of scaling). Rinse thoroughly with clear water before reassembling the cell on the circuit.
How often should you descale your cell?
The cleaning frequency depends on the hardness of your water. As a general rule, descaling 1 to 2 times a year is recommended by CCEI. The ideal time is before winterizing the pool and when restarting in the spring. CCEI electrolyzers like the Limpido have a self-cleaning system with polarity inversion that limits daily scaling, but this function does not exempt from periodic manual cleaning with descaler to remove the most stubborn deposits.
Why maintaining your cell extends its lifespan
The electrodes of your cell are made of titanium plates treated with ruthenium oxide, an expensive coating that wears out gradually. Excessive scaling forces the cell to work harder to produce the same amount of chlorine, accelerating the wear of the coating and reducing the lifespan of the plates. Regular cleaning with the CCEI plug helps maintain optimal chlorine production and preserve your electrodes for as long as possible. It is a minimal investment to protect a component that represents the most expensive part of your electrolysis system.

Frequently Asked Questions about the CCEI Cell Cleaning Plug
The PF10I190 plug is compatible with all CCEI cells with 50 mm fittings: Limpido, Limpido Z, Zélia (ZLC, ZLT, ZLA) and X-Cell.
Yes, the plug comes with its sealing gasket to ensure leak-free cleaning.
You can use 10% diluted hydrochloric acid or household white vinegar. Pour the product into the cell until it completely covers the plates, let it act, then rinse thoroughly with clear water.
Soaking time depends on the descaling state of your cell. For a light deposit, a few minutes are enough. For heavy scaling, leave it to act for several hours until the lime deposits have completely disappeared.
CCEI recommends cleaning 1 to 2 times a year depending on the hardness of your water. The ideal time is before winterizing and when restarting the pool in spring.
Limescale deposits on the titanium plates and gradually reduces chlorine production. Excessive scaling forces the cell to work harder, accelerating the wear of the electrode coating. Regular cleaning maintains treatment efficiency and extends the cell's lifespan.
The PF10I190 plug is designed by CCEI for its own 50 mm fitting cells. It is not guaranteed compatible with cells from other manufacturers, even if the fitting diameter is identical.
Disassemble the cell from the hydraulic circuit, place the supplied sealing gasket in the plug's groove, then screw the plug onto one of the cell's ends. Hold the cell vertically, plug facing downwards, before pouring the descaling product.
Yes. Polarity reversal limits daily scaling but does not completely eliminate limescale deposits, especially in hard water. Periodic manual descaling with the plug remains necessary to remove stubborn residues and maintain optimal chlorine production.
In case of a leak, first check the condition of the gasket and the cell edge. If the gasket is worn or damaged, you can order a new complete plug with gasket included. Tip: applying a little silicone grease in the plug groove improves sealing.
