Why winterize your pH and Redox probes?

Regardless of the type of winterization you choose for your pool, taking care of your pH and Redox probes is essential to extend their lifespan and maximize their effectiveness.

Preliminary steps before winterization:

Probes are precise but also delicate equipment. It is therefore important to clean them regularly and especially before winterizing them.

To do this, nothing could be simpler: first, carefully remove the probe from the piping or your measurement chamber (Pod) by unscrewing the probe holder.

Then you will need to follow these steps:

1. Carefully remove the probe from the pipe or measurement chamber by unscrewing the probe holder.
2. Follow these simple cleaning steps:
   • Immerse the probe bulb in 10% hydrochloric acid for 1 hour to remove scale.
   • Rinse the probe with clear water or distilled water.
   • To remove organic matter, soak the probe in 2.6% bleach for 1 hour.
   • Rinse the probe thoroughly.
3. Once these steps are completed, you can proceed with winterizing your pH and Redox probes, a practice also recommended in mid-season.

How to winterize my pH and Redox (ORP) probes?

Use the protective cap from our winterization kit by pouring KCl solution (saturated potassium chloride) inside. Then insert your probe so that the bulb is immersed in the liquid.

Always store the probe in water or a solution, as prolonged exposure to air can compromise its function when restarting your pool.

Keep the probe upright, at room temperature, away from excessive exposure. In the pipe or measurement chamber, secure the threaded plug (essential for active winterization).
