The CCEI PICCOLO PI-10PSM box is a compact electrical box dedicated to controlling and protecting a pool booster pump. Designed to control auxiliary pumps that power hydraulic robots (such as Polaris, Zodiac, or equivalent) and cleaning brushes, it allows you to program the operating times of your booster pump completely autonomously, independently of the main filtration box.
What is a control box for a booster pump used for?
A pool booster pump is an auxiliary pump installed downstream of the filtration pump. Its role is to provide the additional pressure necessary for the operation of a pressure-side hydraulic robot or a brush connected to a dedicated vacuum point. To avoid running the booster pump continuously—which would prematurely wear out the motor and increase power consumption—it is essential to have a control box that automates its start and stop cycles.
The PICCOLO PI-10PSM fulfills exactly this function: thanks to its daily programming clock (adjustable in 10-minute increments), you define the time slots during which the booster pump should operate—for example, 2 hours in the morning for the robot to run. The rest of the time, the booster pump remains off, which preserves its lifespan and reduces your energy bill.
A compact and waterproof casing designed for the technical room
The PI-10PSM box features the ultra-compact format of the Piccolo range: only 160 × 160 × 140 mm for approximately 800 grams. This reduced size allows for easy installation in an already equipped technical room, even when space is limited. Wall mounting is quick thanks to the included wall plugs and screws, and the cable glands are pre-installed to simplify electrical connection.
The IP67 protection rating guarantees complete dust impermeability and resistance to temporary immersion. In a pool technical room, where ambient humidity and splashes are frequent, this protection ensures long-term reliability. The casing is classified as Class II insulation (double insulation), which enhances the electrical safety of the installation.
Integrated electrical protection: the magnetothermal circuit breaker
The PI-10PSM is equipped with an integrated magnetothermal circuit breaker calibrated from 4 to 6.3 A, suitable for single-phase booster pumps with a power of up to 1 HP (approximately 0.75 kW). This circuit breaker provides dual protection: it cuts off the power in case of a prolonged overload (thermal protection) or a short circuit (magnetic protection). Before the first start-up, it is recommended to precisely adjust the circuit breaker's rating according to the nominal current indicated on your booster pump's nameplate.
Important: The PI-10PSM box does not contain a residual current device (RCD). For your installation to comply with the NF C15-100 standard, an RCD (30 mA) must be present upstream, in your home's general electrical panel.
Two operating modes: automatic and forced operation
The box offers two modes of use. In programming mode, the daily clock automatically controls the booster pump's start and stop cycles. In forced operation mode, a simple press of the external button allows you to manually start the booster pump outside of programmed slots—practical for occasional cleaning or an extra robot run after swimming.
Controls are accessible from outside the box, without having to open it, thanks to waterproof external controls. The large-format clock is easy to read and program.
Piccolo PI-10PSM or Piccolo PI-10: what's the difference?
These two boxes share the same Piccolo casing but control different equipment. The PI-10 is designed for the pool's main filtration pump: it manages daily filtration time slots. The PI-10PSM, on the other hand, is exclusively dedicated to the booster pump that powers a hydraulic robot or a cleaning brush. If your installation includes both a filtration pump and a booster pump, you need both boxes—or a multifunction box such as the Panorama PA PS, which integrates both controls in a single unit.
Which booster pumps is the PI-10PSM compatible with?
The PI-10PSM box is compatible with all single-phase 230V booster pumps whose nominal current is between 4 and 6.3 A, i.e., a maximum power of approximately 1 HP. This covers the vast majority of booster pumps used in residential pools to power pressure-side hydraulic robots. If your booster pump exceeds 1 HP or operates in three-phase, you will need to opt for a higher-rated box in the CCEI range.
