How to install the Pentair Ultra-Flow pump?

• Install the Ultraflow as close to the pool as possible.
• Use a direct, short suction pipe with a constant slope to avoid long priming times.
• The pump must be fixed on a flat and solid base, high enough to prevent the motor from being submerged.
• Install the filter and pump in a protected place, ensuring adequate ventilation and access for maintenance.
• Do not install adjustment devices directly above the pump. • Ensure sufficient floor drainage to prevent the pump from being exposed to water.
• Prepare all pipes to the correct dimensions and reduce the number of bends as much as possible.
• Provide independent support for the pipe near the pump's suction and discharge to reduce stress on the pump.
• Avoid overtightening pipe connections.
• Only use sealants designed for plastic materials for the pipes.
• Avoid petroleum-based products. It is essential that the suction pipe has no air leaks. Its diameter must always be at least equal to that of the pump's suction port.
• To prevent hydraulic circulation in the wrong direction and loosening of the impeller, installing a check valve after the pump is highly recommended.

We also recommend that any valve, elbow, or tee installed on the suction line not be placed closer than five (5) times the diameter of the suction line from the front of the pump. Independently support the pipe near the suction and discharge of the Pentair pump to reduce stress on the pump. Use sealants for plastic pipes.

The suction line should be the same size as the Ultraflow pump's suction inlet. See Figure 2.

Example: a ø 50 mm pipe requires a straight run of 250 mm before the pump's suction inlet. This will allow the pump to prime faster and operate longer.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT install 90° elbows directly at the pump's inlet or outlet.

1. For improved pool piping, it is recommended to use a larger pipe size.

2. The diameter of the piping on the suction side of the pump must be identical to or larger than the return line.

3. The piping on the suction side of the pump must be as short as possible.

4. For most installations, Pentair recommends installing a valve on both the suction and return lines so that the pump can be isolated during routine maintenance. However, we also recommend that a valve, elbow, or tee installed on the suction line not be placed closer than five (5) times the diameter of the suction line from the front of the pump. Independently support the pipe near the pump's suction and discharge to reduce stress on the pump. Use plastic pipe sealants. The suction line should be the same size as the pump's suction inlet. Example: a ø 50 mm pipe requires a 250 mm straight run before the pump's suction inlet. This will allow the pump to prime faster and run longer.
