CCEI MPNG0143 strainer filter: protect your pool filling solenoid valve

The CCEI strainer filter reference MPNG0143 is an essential protection accessory for any automatic pool filling installation equipped with a 24V solenoid valve. Installed upstream of the CCEI 1" 24V solenoid valve (ref. MPNG0142), it retains impurities carried by the domestic water network — sand, limescale, rust, debris — that could block the valve flap and compromise the automatic filling of the pool.

This strainer filter is the model originally supplied in CCEI level regulator kits (RNS-1, RNS-2, NIVA 3, NIVA 5). Sold here as a spare part, it allows you to replace a worn or clogged filter or to equip an installation where the original filter may have been lost or damaged.

Why is a strainer filter essential?

The drinking water network, even of good quality, transports micro-particles: grains of sand from old pipes, limescale flakes, traces of rust from metal fittings. Without a strainer filter, these impurities accumulate in the solenoid valve body, preventing the flap from closing properly (permanent leak) or opening (blocked filling). The MPNG0143 strainer filter intercepts these particles before they reach the solenoid valve, thus extending its lifespan and ensuring reliable operation of the filling circuit.

Technical characteristics of the MPNG0143 strainer filter

The CCEI MPNG0143 strainer filter can withstand a maximum pressure of 4 bars. The pressure of the domestic water network in France is generally between 2 and 5 bars. If your network exceeds 4 bars, it is recommended to install a pressure reducer upstream of the filter to protect it. The filter is equipped with a removable filter cartridge that can be easily removed for cleaning, without having to dismantle the entire circuit.

With its compact dimensions of 100 × 100 mm and a weight of only 0.4 kg, the strainer filter can be easily integrated into any technical room, even the smallest ones.

Installation: where and how to position the strainer filter?

The strainer filter is placed between the water supply shut-off valve and the 24V solenoid valve, on the pool filling water inlet line. The assembly order recommended by CCEI is as follows: shut-off valve → MPNG0143 strainer filter → MPNG0142 solenoid valve → filling pipe to the pool. The tightness of the threaded connections is ensured by Teflon or hemp. Fixing to the wall or pipes can be done using clamps.

Maintenance: simple cleaning every 6 to 12 months

Maintaining the strainer filter is quick and requires no specific tools. Simply close the upstream shut-off valve, unscrew the filter body, remove the filter cartridge and rinse it with clear water to remove accumulated deposits. CCEI recommends cleaning every 6 to 12 months, the frequency depending on the quality of your network's water. If your water is particularly hard or laden with particles, more frequent cleaning may be necessary.

A clogged strainer filter manifests itself as an abnormally low filling rate: if you notice that your pool takes much longer than usual to fill via the level regulator, the strainer filter is the first element to check.

Compatibility with CCEI level regulators

The MPNG0143 strainer filter is the standard accessory supplied with CCEI level regulator kits. It is compatible with the entire range: RNS-1 (float, skimmer pools), RNS-2 (electronic probe), NIVA 3 (three probes, skimmer and overflow) and NIVA 5 (five probes, overflow pools). It is always used in conjunction with the CCEI 1" 24V solenoid valve ref. MPNG0142.

If you are replacing the solenoid valve of your level regulator, this is a good time to inspect and possibly replace the strainer filter at the same time. The two parts work in tandem: a clean filter ensures a correctly functioning solenoid valve, and vice versa.

Frequently Asked Questions – CCEI MPNG0143 Strainer Filter

What is the purpose of the MPNG0143 strainer filter in a pool installation? +

The MPNG0143 strainer filter is placed upstream of the 24V solenoid valve on the automatic pool filling line. It retains impurities carried by the domestic water network (sand, limescale, rust, debris) that could block the solenoid valve's flap and compromise the basin's filling.

Is this strainer filter compatible with the CCEI 1" 24V solenoid valve (MPNG0142)? +

Yes, this is exactly the model designed to work with the CCEI 1" 24V solenoid valve reference MPNG0142. These two parts are supplied together in CCEI level regulator kits (RNS-1, RNS-2, NIVA 3, NIVA 5) and are sold separately here as replacement parts.

What is the maximum pressure supported by the strainer filter? +

The MPNG0143 strainer filter supports a maximum pressure of 4 bars. Domestic water network pressure in France is generally between 2 and 5 bars. If your network exceeds 4 bars, install a pressure reducer upstream of the filter to protect it.

How often should the strainer filter be cleaned? +

CCEI recommends cleaning every 6 to 12 months. If your mains water is particularly hard or laden with particles, more frequent cleaning may be necessary. A clogged filter will result in an abnormally low filling rate.

How to clean the MPNG0143 strainer filter? +

Cleaning is simple and quick: close the shut-off valve upstream, unscrew the filter body, remove the removable filter cartridge and rinse it with clear water to remove accumulated deposits. For stubborn limescale deposits, soaking in white vinegar for a few minutes can help dissolve the scale. Then reassemble the filter and reopen the valve.

Where should the strainer filter be installed on the filling line? +

The strainer filter is placed between the shut-off valve of the water network and the 24V solenoid valve. The recommended installation order is as follows: shut-off valve → MPNG0143 strainer filter → MPNG0142 solenoid valve → filling pipe to the basin. Threaded connections are sealed with Teflon tape or flax.

Can the filling circuit be used without a strainer filter? +

It is strongly unadvised. Without a strainer filter, impurities from the water network accumulate in the solenoid valve body, causing malfunctions: permanent leakage if the flap no longer closes correctly, or valve blockage in the closed position. Replacing the strainer filter is much less costly than replacing the solenoid valve.

How to know if the strainer filter is clogged? +

The main sign is an abnormally low filling rate: if your pool takes much longer than usual to reach its level via the regulator, the strainer filter is the first element to check. You can also dismantle the filter to visually inspect the cartridge and observe any accumulation of deposits.

Should the strainer filter be replaced at the same time as the solenoid valve? +

It is not mandatory, but it is recommended if the filter shows signs of wear (deformed cartridge, cracked body, leaking connections). The two parts work together: a clean filter ensures a correctly operating solenoid valve. If you replace the MPNG0142 solenoid valve, take the opportunity to inspect the MPNG0143 filter.

Is the MPNG0143 strainer filter covered by a warranty? +

The strainer filter benefits from the 2-year legal conformity warranty applicable to all purchases on Pool Planet. In case of a defect found within this period, contact customer service for an exchange or refund.
