Piccolo PIMT Box: secure 12V power supply for pool projectors, in 100, 300 or 600 VA
The CCE Piccolo PIMT power supply box is the electrical enclosure dedicated to powering 12V pool projectors. It includes a 230V/12V safety transformer compliant with the NF EN61558 standard, which reduces the domestic electrical grid voltage (230V) to the extra-low safety voltage (12V AC) required by regulations for all submerged lighting or lighting installed near a pool. This box is available in three power ratings depending on the number and power of the projectors to be powered: 100 VA (PIMT 31), 300 VA (PIMT 33) and 600 VA (PIMT 37).
Which version to choose: PIMT 31, PIMT 33 or PIMT 37?
The choice of version depends solely on the total cumulative power of your projectors. You need to add up the power of each connected projector and select the box whose capacity is greater than or equal to this total.
The PIMT 31 (100 VA) is suitable for an installation with a single projector up to 100W — for example, a 100W PAR56 halogen projector or one or two 50W LED projectors. It is the entry-level version, suitable for pools with a single light point.
The PIMT 33 (300 VA) is sized for several projectors whose cumulative power does not exceed 300 VA. It is typically suitable for an installation with two to four LED projectors or two 150W halogen projectors.
The PIMT 37 (600 VA) is the most powerful version in the range. It is designed for pools equipped with a large number of projectors, or for high-power halogen projectors, whose total power reaches up to 600 VA. This is the reference to consider for large pools or ambitious lighting installations with several PAR56 halogen niches.
If in doubt about the power calculation, a simple rule applies: it is always better to choose the higher version rather than the lower, to leave a margin of safety and allow for possible future expansion of the installation.
A compact box designed for the pool technical room
All three versions of the Piccolo PIMT share the same shape and equipment characteristics. The box measures 260 × 180 × 80 mm — compact dimensions that allow it to be easily integrated into a standard-sized technical room, even when space is limited. Its IP55 protection guarantees watertightness against water splashes and dust penetration, which is essential in a pool technical room where humidity is constant.
On the front, a waterproof ON/OFF button allows you to turn the projectors on or off directly from the box, without having to access the internal terminals. Access to connections is facilitated by the design of the housing, which simplifies wiring during initial installation as well as during maintenance.
An installation compliant with pool electrical standards
Underwater and poolside lighting is subject to strict electrical rules in France, defined by the NF C 15-100 standard. This requires the use of extra-low safety voltage (ELV) at 12V for any equipment located in volumes 0 and 1 around the pool (submerged zone and zone within one meter of the edge). The transformer integrated into the Piccolo PIMT complies with the NF EN61558 standard, which certifies safety transformers for this type of use. By choosing this box, you ensure that your lighting installation complies with regulatory requirements, which is required notably as part of a CONSUEL verification for new constructions or major renovations.
Supplied complete, ready to install
The Piccolo PIMT box is supplied with all the necessary accessories for fixing: cable glands, plugs and fixing screws. It does not require any special tools other than a screwdriver and a drill for wall mounting. The electrical connection (230V input and 12V output to the projectors) must however be carried out by a qualified person, in accordance with current electrical regulations.
The Piccolo PIMT is the simplest and most economical solution for equipping a technical room with a dedicated power supply for pool projectors, without the need for a more complex multi-function box integrating filtration management. If you wish to group filtration and lighting in a single box, CCE also offers the Piccolo PI boxes, which combine both functions.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Piccolo PIMT CCEI Power Supply Box
Pool projectors operate on extra-low safety voltage (12V AC) and not directly on 230V like common household appliances. This requirement is imposed by French electrical standards to ensure bathers' safety in an aquatic environment. The Piccolo PIMT box incorporates a safety transformer compliant with NF EN61558 standard which converts the 230V mains current to 12V AC suitable for projectors. Without this intermediate box, it is impossible to legally and safely power a submerged projector in a swimming pool.
The choice depends on the total cumulative power of the projectors you wish to power. The PIMT31 (100W) is suitable for one or two low-power LED projectors (up to 40W each). The PIMT33 (300W) is suitable for powering multiple LED projectors or a medium-power halogen projector. The PIMT37 (600W) is designed for installations with numerous projectors or powerful halogen projectors. The golden rule: add up the power of all your projectors and choose the box whose capacity is at least 20% higher than this sum to avoid any risk of overload.
Yes, the Piccolo PIMT box delivers a 12V AC output voltage, which makes it compatible with all 12V LED and halogen pool projectors, regardless of their brand. It is particularly well-suited for CCEI projectors (Mini-Brio, Gaïa, Nikita, PAR56), but also works with projectors from other brands (Hayward, AstralPool, Pentair, etc.) as long as they are powered by 12V AC. Always check the supply voltage indicated in your projector's manual before installation.
The NF EN61558 standard defines the safety requirements for transformers used in electrical risk environments, such as swimming pools. A transformer compliant with this standard guarantees perfect galvanic isolation between the 230V network and the 12V projector circuit, eliminating any risk of electric shock for bathers in the event of failure. This is a regulatory obligation in France for any pool lighting installation. The Piccolo PIMT box incorporates a certified compliant transformer, thus ensuring a legal and secure installation.
The IP55 rating indicates that the box is protected against water jets from all directions (digit 5) and against dust in harmful quantities (also digit 5). This protection is essential for equipment installed in a pool technical room, which is often subject to ambient humidity, water splashes during maintenance operations, and temperature variations. IP55 guarantees the durability and reliability of the box under these demanding operating conditions, without requiring additional protective enclosure.
The integrated waterproof ON/OFF button on the front of the Piccolo PIMT box allows you to turn the projectors on and off directly from the technical room, without having to operate the main electrical panel. It is a convenient local control for maintenance interventions or emergency situations requiring a quick cut-off of the lighting. Its waterproofness ensures reliable operation even with wet hands. For remote control from the poolside, it is possible to combine the box with an external switch or timer installed upstream.
The Piccolo PIMT box must be installed outside the safety zones defined by the NF C 15-100 standard, i.e., at least 3.5 meters from the edge of the pool, in a technical room or a closed niche. Its compact dimensions of 260 x 180 x 80 mm facilitate its integration into most existing technical rooms. The distance between the box and the projectors must be compatible with the cable cross-section used to limit voltage drops on the 12V circuit: the longer the distance, the larger the cable cross-section must be.
Yes, it is entirely possible to connect several projectors in parallel to the same Piccolo PIMT box, within the limit of the total power of the chosen model. For example, a PIMT33 (300W) can power up to 7 LED projectors of 40W each (total 280W, within the 300W limit). For a multi-projector installation, it may be wise to add a distribution box at the output of the Piccolo to properly distribute power to each light point. Always make sure to stay below the maximum power of the box to avoid transformer overheating.
The Piccolo PIMT box is a simple power supply box: it transforms 230V into 12V and includes an ON/OFF switch, but it does not manage the color control of RGB/RGBW projectors. To control the color changes of BRiO RC+ compatible projectors, a specific BRiO RC+ control box must be used, which incorporates the light scenario control functions. The Piccolo PIMT can, however, power Mini-Brio Switch projectors whose color change is performed by cutting the power via its front ON/OFF button.
Any intervention on a pool's 230V electrical network must comply with NF C 15-100 standard, which strictly regulates electrical installations in premises containing a bathtub or swimming pool. The installation of the Piccolo PIMT box involves connecting to the 230V electrical panel and must be carried out by a qualified electrician, or by an experienced DIY enthusiast who perfectly masters electrical safety rules. The box comes with cable glands, dowels, and fixing screws to facilitate mechanical assembly. Once installed, its commissioning and daily use are within everyone's reach.
