CCEI PICCOLO PI-10 Box: Control and Protect Your Pool Filtration Pump

The CCEI PICCOLO PI-10 box is a compact electrical enclosure dedicated to the control and protection of your pool's filtration pump. Thanks to its daily programming clock, you can define the operating times of your filtration system without any manual daily intervention. Motor protection is ensured by an integrated magneto-thermal circuit breaker which automatically cuts power in the event of an overload or short circuit.

Why Install a Control Box for Your Filtration Pump?

Filtration is the cornerstone of pool water quality: it must operate several hours a day, and the duration varies according to water temperature (common rule: water temperature divided by two = number of hours of filtration). Without a control box, you would have to manually turn the pump on and off every day. The PICCOLO PI-10 automates this task by allowing you to program filtration time slots just once. The clock then takes care of controlling the pump day after day, which ensures regular filtration and reduces electricity consumption by avoiding unnecessary operation.

Beyond programming, the box ensures the electrical safety of your installation. The magneto-thermal circuit breaker protects the pump motor in the event of prolonged overload (thermal protection) or short circuit (magnetic protection). This is essential protection to extend the lifespan of your filtration pump.

Compatible with Single-Phase and Three-Phase

Unlike some boxes in the Piccolo range which are exclusively single-phase, the PI-10 accepts both single-phase (230V) and three-phase pumps. This versatility makes it a suitable choice for most residential pool installations, whether your pump is a common single-phase model or a more powerful three-phase model. The integrated circuit breaker is adjustable up to 10 A, covering a wide range of pump powers. Before initial commissioning, it is important to set the circuit breaker rating according to the nominal current indicated on your pump's nameplate. For three-phase motors, it is necessary to check the direction of rotation and, if necessary, reverse two wires at the motor.

A Compact and Waterproof Enclosure for the Technical Room

The PI-10 box retains the ultra-compact format of the Piccolo range: 160 × 160 × 140 mm for approximately 800 grams. This size allows it to be easily installed in an already equipped technical room, even when space is limited. Wall mounting is done without opening the box thanks to the supplied wall plugs and screws, and the cable glands are pre-installed for easy connection.

The IP67 protection rating guarantees total dust-tightness and resistance to temporary immersion – an important asset in a pool technical room where humidity and splashes are frequent. The enclosure is rated Class II insulation (double insulation), which reinforces electrical safety without requiring grounding of the box itself.

Two Operating Modes: Automatic and Forced Operation

In programming mode, the daily clock (adjustable in 10-minute increments) automatically controls the on and off cycles of the filtration pump. In forced operation mode, a simple press of the external button allows the pump to be manually started outside of programmed time slots – useful, for example, after heavy use of the pool or a storm that has disturbed the water. The controls are accessible from outside the enclosure, without having to open it.

Piccolo PI-10 or Piccolo PI-10PSM: What's the Difference?

These two boxes share the same compact enclosure, but they do not control the same equipment. The PI-10 is dedicated to the filtration pump: it is the main box in the technical room. The PI-10PSM, on the other hand, is designed to control a booster pump (the auxiliary pump that supplies a hydraulic robot or cleaning brush). If your installation includes both pieces of equipment, you need both boxes – or a multi-function box like the Panorama PA PS which groups both controls in a single enclosure.

Residual Current Device: An Important Point

The PI-10 box does not contain a residual current device (RCD). For your installation to comply with NF C15-100 standard, a 30 mA RCD must be installed upstream, in the main electrical panel of your home. If you want a box with integrated differential protection, look for the "ID" versions of the Piccolo range (PI-10 ID) or a multi-function Panorama box equipped with an RCD.
