CCEI Empty X-CELL Cell: Protect Your Limpido Salt Chlorinator During Winterization

The CCEI empty X-CELL cell is a winterization accessory designed to temporarily replace the active cell of your Limpido salt chlorinator. By removing the original cell and installing this empty cell in its place, you protect your titanium electrodes against scaling, freezing, and corrosion, while maintaining a closed and watertight hydraulic circuit throughout the winterization period.

Why Remove the Active Cell During Winter?

During the winterization period, the chlorinator is shut down, but water continues to circulate in the circuit if your filtration is running in reduced mode or if you have a frost-free box. However, an electrolysis cell left in place without operating is exposed to several risks: accumulation of scale on the titanium plates, stagnant water likely to cause corrosion, and risk of damage in case of frost. By removing the active cell to store it dry and replacing it with the empty X-CELL cell, you eliminate these risks and considerably extend the lifespan of your electrodes.

Ideal for Installations Without a Bypass

If your installation has a bypass, you can simply isolate the cell from the circuit in winter. However, if your cell is mounted directly in line on the pipe without a bypass, you cannot remove it without interrupting the hydraulic circuit. This is precisely the role of the empty X-CELL cell: it takes the place of the active cell and ensures the continuity of water circulation in your plant room, even without a bypass.

A Transparent Cell to Monitor Your Water in Winter

The empty X-CELL cell is made of transparent plastic, allowing you to visually check the quality and color of the water circulating in your installation during winterization. A quick glance is enough to detect a potential problem (cloudy water, abnormal coloration) and react before the situation worsens.

Quick Installation Without Specific Tools

The empty X-CELL cell is 313 mm long, the same length as the Limpido active cell. It comes with 2 Ø50 mm union fittings and their gaskets, allowing for direct replacement in minutes. Unscrew the union fittings of the active cell, remove it, install the empty cell with its fittings, and tighten. It's done. In spring, perform the reverse operation to put your active cell back into service.

How to Store the Removed Active Cell?

Once the active cell has been removed, it is recommended to clean it before storage using the CCEI cleaning cap (ref. PF10I190). Fill the cell with a descaling solution (10% hydrochloric acid or white vinegar), let it act, then rinse thoroughly. Dry the cell and store it in a dry place, away from frost and UV rays. In spring, it will be ready to resume service immediately.
