Piccolo PI-NCC PZ CCEI box: the piezoelectric control for your counter-current swimming
The CCEI Piccolo PI-NCC PZ box is a compact electrical box designed to power and control a counter-current swimming pump, spa pump, or pool blower. Its unique feature compared to the standard PI-NCC box is the integrated Piezo MPZ control module, which allows remote control of the pump from the coping or pool wall using a piezoelectric button, without the need for a traditional pneumatic system. This technology offers a range of up to 100 meters and eliminates all distance and maintenance constraints associated with pneumatic tubes.
Available in three thermal-magnetic circuit breaker ratings (6-10A ref. PF10B161, 10-16A ref. PF10B160, and 13-18A ref. PF10B162), the box adapts to the power of your pump. It natively accepts single-phase 230V power supplies (motors up to 2.2 kW / 3 hp) and three-phase 400V power supplies (motors up to 4 kW / 5.5 hp), making it compatible with almost all NCC pumps on the market.
Piezo technology: why replace pneumatic?
Traditional NCC boxes use a pneumatic receiver for remote control: an air tube connects the push button at the edge of the pool to the box in the technical room. This system, although reliable, has several drawbacks. The tube length is limited (usually 10 to 15 meters), connections can loosen over time, and the pneumatic tube is sensitive to UV and aging.
Piezo technology eliminates these limitations. The piezoelectric button generates a micro-current with a simple finger press, transmitted by an electrical cable to the MPZ module integrated into the box. The cable can be extended without signal loss, and the button has no moving mechanical parts. The result is a more reliable, aesthetic, and maintenance-free control. CCEI Piezo buttons are available in two materials (POM plastic or 316L stainless steel) and feature RGB backlighting that visually indicates the pump's operating status.
Piccolo format: compact, waterproof and wall-mounted
The PI-NCC PZ box retains CCEI's characteristic Piccolo format: a compact case measuring 160 × 160 × 140 mm and weighing approximately 1.1 kg, with an IP67 protection rating that makes it perfectly dustproof and temporarily submersible. It is wall-mounted in the technical room using the provided dowels and screws, and can be easily integrated into small spaces. The cable glands and sealing plugs supplied with the box ensure a clean and secure installation of the power and connection cables to the Piezo button.
Which circuit breaker rating to choose?
The choice of circuit breaker depends on the absorbed current of your counter-current swimming pump. This information can be found on the pump's nameplate or in its technical documentation. As a general rule, low-power pumps (0.5 to 0.75 kW) fall within the 6-10A range (ref. PF10B161). Medium-power pumps (0.75 to 1.5 kW) correspond to the 10-16A rating (ref. PF10B160). The most powerful pumps (1.5 to 2.2 kW in single-phase, up to 4 kW in three-phase) require the 13-18A rating (ref. PF10B162). If in doubt, consult the correspondence table provided in the box's manual or contact Pool Planet customer service.
Compatible with single-phase and three-phase: native versatility
Unlike many NCC boxes on the market that require choosing between a single-phase and a three-phase version, the Piccolo PI-NCC PZ natively accepts both types of power supply. You can connect it in single-phase 230V for pumps up to 2.2 kW (3 hp) or in three-phase 400V for more powerful motors up to 4 kW (5.5 hp). This versatility allows you to keep the same box if you change pumps or upgrade your electrical installation, without having to replace the entire enclosure.
PI-NCC PZ vs PI-NCC pneumatic box: what's the difference?
Pool Planet offers both versions of the Piccolo NCC box. The standard PI-NCC integrates a long-distance pneumatic receiver and is suitable for existing installations already equipped with a pneumatic tube. The PI-NCC PZ integrates the Piezo MPZ module and requires the separate purchase of one or two Piezo buttons (POM or 316L stainless steel) as well as the corresponding wall fitting. The choice between the two depends mainly on your existing installation and your preferences in terms of comfort and aesthetics.

| 4 / 6.3 | 6.01 A | 1 | 0.75 | 1.6 / 2.5 | 2.0 A |
| 6 / 10 | 7.6 A | 1.5 | 1.1 | 2.5 / 4 | 2.8 A |
| 9 / 14 | 10.4 A | 2 | 1.5 | 2.5 / 4 | 3.6 A |
| — | — | 3 | 2.2 | 4 / 6.3 | 5.1 A |
| — | — | 4 | 3 | 6 / 10 | 6.8 A |
The last two lines (3 kW and 4 kW) only concern three-phase 400V motors. Identify the absorbed current on your pump's nameplate to choose the appropriate circuit breaker rating.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Piccolo PI-NCC PZ CCEI Control Box
The PI-NCC PZ control box is a compact electrical box designed to power and control a counter-current swimming pump, hydro-massage pump, or a pool blower. It integrates a Piezo MPZ control module that allows remote control of the pump from the coping using a piezoelectric button, without a pneumatic system.
The standard PI-NCC integrates a long-distance pneumatic receiver and is controlled via an air tube connected to a button at the edge of the pool. The PI-NCC PZ integrates the Piezo MPZ module and is controlled by a piezoelectric button (POM or 316L stainless steel, sold separately). Piezo technology offers superior range, a neater aesthetic, and no maintenance of the pneumatic tube.
No, the Piezo button is sold separately. Two versions are available on Pool Planet: in POM plastic (more economical) or in 316L stainless steel (more resistant and aesthetically pleasing). The wall fitting required for installing the button in the coping is also sold separately.
The choice depends on the absorbed current of your pump, indicated on its nameplate. Generally: 6-10A (ref. PF10B161) for 0.5 to 0.75 kW pumps, 10-16A (ref. PF10B160) for 0.75 to 1.5 kW pumps, and 13-18A (ref. PF10B162) for 1.5 to 2.2 kW pumps in single-phase or up to 4 kW in three-phase.
Yes, the PI-NCC PZ control box is natively compatible with single-phase (230V) and three-phase (400V) power. You can connect it directly to either type of power supply depending on your installation. In single-phase, it accepts pumps up to 2.2 kW (3 hp). In three-phase, it controls motors up to 4 kW (5.5 hp).
In single-phase 230V, the control box accepts motors up to 2.2 kW (3 hp). In three-phase 400V, it controls motors up to 4 kW (5.5 hp). The maximum power also depends on the circuit breaker size chosen at the time of ordering.
Yes, the Piccolo PI-NCC PZ control box has an IP67 protection rating, which makes it completely dustproof and resistant to temporary immersion. It can therefore be installed in a technical room, even if damp, provided that the electrical safety regulations in force are observed.
The integrated Piezo MPZ module can manage up to 2 relays, which theoretically allows two pieces of equipment to be controlled. However, the Piccolo PI-NCC PZ control box has only one motor output protected by a circuit breaker. To control two independent pumps, two separate PI-NCC PZ control boxes or a larger multifunction control box would be required.
The Piezo button screws onto a CCEI wall fitting (sold separately) which is inserted into a 40 mm diameter PN16 PVC pipe embedded in the coping. The button is flush with the surface for a discreet appearance. The 3-meter cable supplied with the button connects it to the MPZ module in the control box. If the distance is greater, the cable can be extended.
Yes, the PI-NCC PZ control box is not limited to counter-current swimming. It can power and control any equipment requiring a protected motor output with remote control: massage pump, blower, fountain pump, or waterfall pump. The Piezo button offers the same control convenience regardless of the equipment being controlled.
