Piccolo PI-NCC CCEI Control Box: Pneumatic Control for your Counter-Current Swim Unit

The CCEI Piccolo PI-NCC control box is a compact electrical box designed to power and control a counter-current swim pump, a hydrotherapy pump, or a pool blower. It features a long-range pneumatic receiver that allows the pump to be controlled from the poolside using a pneumatic push button installed in the coping. The principle is simple: pressing the button sends an air pulse through a flexible tube to the receiver in the control box, which then activates or deactivates the pump. No electrical wiring is required between the button and the control box.

Available in four magnetothermal circuit breaker ratings (4-6A, 6-10A, 10-16A, and 13-18A), the control box adapts to your pump's power. It natively accepts single-phase 230V power supplies (motors up to 2.2 kW / 3 hp) and three-phase 400V power supplies (motors up to 4 kW / 5.5 hp), making it compatible with almost all counter-current swim pumps on the market.

Long-range Pneumatic Control: A Proven System

Pneumatic control is the traditional system for remotely operating counter-current swim and hydrotherapy pumps. Its main advantage is inherent safety: no electrical current flows between the button at the poolside and the control box in the technical room. The pneumatic tube only carries air, eliminating any electrical risk at the control point in a wet area.

The pneumatic receiver integrated into the PI-NCC is a long-range type, meaning it functions reliably even when the pneumatic tube is several meters long. The maximum distance depends on the diameter of the tube used and the quality of the connections, but installations up to 10-15 meters are common and perfectly functional.

Piccolo Format: Compact, Waterproof, and Wall-Mounted

The PI-NCC control box uses CCEI's characteristic Piccolo format: a compact casing measuring 160 × 160 × 140 mm and weighing approximately 1.1 kg, with an IP67 protection rating that makes it perfectly waterproof against dust and temporary immersion. It is fixed to the technical room wall using the supplied wall plugs and screws and can be easily integrated into small spaces.

Which Circuit Breaker Rating to Choose?

The choice of circuit breaker depends on the current drawn by your pump, indicated on its nameplate. The 4-6A rating is suitable for very low-power pumps (0.25 to 0.37 kW). The 6-10A covers pumps from 0.55 to 0.75 kW. The 10-16A is suitable for pumps from 1.1 to 1.5 kW. The 13-18A is necessary for the most powerful pumps (1.5 to 2.2 kW in single-phase, up to 4 kW in three-phase). Natively Compatible with Single-Phase and Three-Phase

The Piccolo PI-NCC natively accepts both types of power supply. You can connect it to single-phase 230V for pumps up to 2.2 kW (3 hp) or to three-phase 400V for more powerful motors up to 4 kW (5.5 hp). This versatility allows you to keep the same control box if you change pumps or upgrade your electrical installation.

PI-NCC Pneumatic Control Box vs. PI-NCC PZ Piezoelectric Control Box: How to Choose?

The PI-NCC (this product) includes a long-range pneumatic receiver: it is the natural choice for existing installations already equipped with a pneumatic tube or for projects where the simplicity of the pneumatic system is preferred. The PI-NCC PZ includes a Piezo MPZ module and is controlled by an RGB piezoelectric button (sold separately): it offers a greater range, a lighted status indicator, and a more contemporary aesthetic, but requires the separate purchase of the button and the wall fitting.

Both control boxes share the same Piccolo casing, the same single/three-phase compatibility, the same IP67 rating, and the same circuit breaker ratings. The choice between the two is mainly based on the desired control type.

The last two lines (3 kW and 4 kW) concern only three-phase 400V motors. Refer to the absorbed current on your pump's nameplate to choose the appropriate circuit breaker rating.
